Well, actuall I do own a pair of sandals with this type of sole, and they activate your muscles just enough so that my smashed knee stays stable. Normally, it tends to swell when I stand a lot or walk slowly. Yes, they are ugly, and your balance is challenged. Do not try to run in these. Bit they do activate your hamstrings to some degree.
